Hi!! Thanks for stopping by – I’m so glad you are here!
I’m a mom who LOVES being a mom (even though I wasn’t convinced this would be the case while I was pregnant). My son Paxton was born on New Year’s Eve 2017 and is growing up way too fast.
In addition to being a mom, I’m also a genetically predisposed and self-proclaimed workaholic. I am a veterinary pharmacist and love my career. I truly enjoy all of the travel and extra projects that I end up with in my mission to be an amazing veterinary pharmacist.
Sometimes (or often) these two worlds clash because I would love to spend the majority of my day being a mom AND spend the majority of my day doing veterinary pharmacy things. Sadly, I haven’t mastered time travel yet, and I don’t have a time turner necklace like Hermione Granger, so I’m left with the working mom balancing act.
Why a Blog?
So now that I’ve told you about my lack of spare time, you are probably wondering why this blog exists. Why do I need yet another thing to take up time? Well, there are a few reasons…
1.) I love to write and be creative, so this is an outlet for that
2.) I googled everything about being a mom when I was pregnant, and I still take to Google for every new step. While I’ve found a lot of helpful info, it’s been by collecting stuff from lots of different blogs/articles and trial and error. I want to combine what I’ve figured out works and put it out there for other moms.
3.) I find myself thinking all the time how much easier baby number two will be (someday :)) now that I know everything I’ve learned through trial and error. I want to make sure I remember all of these things when I reach the point of doing it all over again. I also don’t want to forget the fun I have being a mom…so basically you are getting to read the closest thing I will ever get to writing a journal. You guys are my motivation to keep up with writing everything down.
10 Fun Facts About Me
1.) I grew up in Western PA, went to pharmacy school in Ohio, did my residency in IN and now live in CA.
2.) I have a Quarter Horse named Banjo that I compete within hunter and equitation events at AQHA shows. Banjo still lives in Ohio, so I fly back to compete (but haven’t since Paxton was born).
3.) I showed Banjo up until I was 32 weeks pregnant. I really wanted to make it to the World Show which was in November, so I watched what I ate and stayed in really great shape. I ended up top 10 in all my events and then admitted that I was really starting to feel pregnant.
4.) I have two cats – a Maine Coon named Duchess and a domestic shorthair named Tink.
5.) My husband John is a Realtor and stay at home dad (aka House Hubby). He is the reason I can chase my dreams and do everything I do. I couldn’t do any of this without him!
6.) My favorite food is ice cream
7.) I love to travel
8.) I love to sleep. I can sleep for 12+ hours with no problem if I get the chance. (That doesn’t happen much now that I’m a mom though)
9.) I was featured in Sport’s Illustrated Faces in the Crowd for my equestrian accomplishments while I was in pharmacy school.
10.) I have never seen an episode of Game of Thrones.
I started this blog to help other new moms by sharing what I’ve learned. Therefore, I’ve created a number of resources to help me, and I want to share them with you. Grab them all from my resources page here!
